In the age of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, the rules of social engagement have shifted ever so slightly. You may be a whiz at ?making conversation when face-to-face, but doing it online can be tricky.
A few tips on building rapport online:
???Listen. Sure, post updates about you, but also clue in to what your connections are interested in. Comment or reply to what they post. You wouldn?t conduct a face-to-face conversation without asking questions, would you? The same applies online.
???Watch your tone. Being snarky online can alienate or mar your professional image. Remember that negative comments about online articles stay there. They become part of your online persona.
???Stay positive. Others want to be uplifted by interactions.
???Avoid posting photos of others, unless you receive permission.
