Interested in the sport of wrestling? Find out what it?s all about at Algonquin?s second annual Open Mat Night on Thursday, and then sign up for a youth clinic this winter. Here are the details.
Algonquin?s Varsity Wrestling is offering youth clinics once again this winter. We are holding our second annual ?Open Mat Night? on Thursday, November 15th from 7-8 pm at ARHS. We are encouraging 5th thru 8th graders (boys and girls) in Northborough and Southborough to come give wrestling a ?test run?! You will be able to meet the coaches, ARHS varsity players and have your questions answered. This is an opportunity to try something new;
Wrestling is about developing self-confidence, athleticism, and having FUN while participating in one of the oldest sports! (It?s also the same night as the 8th Grade Parents Night at ARHS that starts at 6pm)
Our Youth Wrestling Clinics are for boys and girls in grades 5-8. Clinics are held in the wrestling room at Algonquin High School. The sessions will be run by several youth coaches under the direction of Algonquin?s head wrestling coach, Brian Kramer. The 22-session clinic starts on Nov. 27th and goes until Feb. 14 and costs only $100 if you are registered by Nov. 16th ($125 after this date); no experience is necessary and the only equipment required is shorts and a t-shirt, wrestling shoes are optional.
Develop balance, flexibility, coordination, body awareness and self-confidence through high energy, fun-filled sessions where your child will learn amateur wrestling techniques. As a part of the Algonquin Youth Wrestling team (which is a member of the Massachusetts Youth Wrestling Association), you?ll have the option to attend tournaments and jamborees, plus dual meets in conjunction with the Algonquin Varsity Wrestling team meets. These optional events run weekdays and weekends throughout the season. Get some real time wrestling experience in a fun, low-key wrestling environment.
