CATSKILL, N.Y. ? Village President Vincent Seeley is hopeful a meeting with local real estate professionals will lead to strategies to market the community to new businesses and residents.
?I?m trying to match appropriate buyers and sellers with areas of our community,? Seeley said Tuesday. He said the idea for the meeting arose from a conversation in which he was told a real estate agent did not provide a client with information about activities occurring in the community.?
Seeley said he felt it was time to sit down with real estate professionals to talk about what is going on in the village and town and find out what people think about the area.
Real estate agents, Seeley said, can provide perspective on potential businesses and residents coming to Catskill. In turn, he said, they can use information on what is happening in the community as part of their sales and marketing plans.
The ?Village & Town of Catskill Real Estate Strategy Meeting? will take place at 4 p.m. today at Tatiana?s Italian Restaurant on Main Street. The meeting is aimed at real estate professionals, but is open to the public, Seeley said.?
Seeley said he plans to present an update on projects in the village, and the grassroots Catskill Action Team will also give a presentation. Additionally, the real estate professionals would be asked for their input, including whether there are parts of the village they avoid and why, he said. Seeley said there are some streets, for instance, where properties have the potential to be fixed up and grow a buyer?s initial investment.?
Seeley said he wants the real estate agents to act as ambassadors to people looking to come to and invest in Catskill. He said part of the discussion will focus on ways to better communicate with the public.?
